Sporting Bengal win sets up derby clash with Clapton in FA Cup

SPORTING BENGAL will take on Clapton FC in an all east-end affair in the Preliminary round of the FA Cup.
Imrul Gazi’s boys booked their place in the next round after overcoming Ipswich Wanderers in the extra-preliminary round.

Bengal won the replay 2-0 away from home on Tuesday night after playing out a goalless draw two days earlier.

Gazi was full of praise for his team after the game, telling East London Advertiser:

“Ipswich were much improved from Sunday and we really had to dig in, but each person played their heart out.”

Gazi has had to put together a brand new squad for the season since taking over from former gaffer Anwar Uddin this summer.

“We are a work in progress and this result will only help the players confidence.”

The FA Cup clash with Essex Senior League rivals Clapton takes place on Saturday 20th August at Mile End Stadium.
