Sporting Bengal create history in FA Cup win over Clapton

SPORTING BENGAL beat rivals Clapton 2-0 to reach the first qualifying round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history.

Goals from Zubair Hussain and David Vaughan in the second half were enough to give Imrul Gazi’s side victory at the Mile End Stadium.

The Tower Hamlets-based side overcame their Essex Senior League rivals and will now take their placde in the next round of the cup.

Manager Gazi, who took on the role after former Dagenham and Redbridge captain Anwar Uddin stepped down in the summer, was understandably ecstatic with the result.

He tweeted:

“Just made @sportingbengal history! So PROUD of my lads.”
